Carcajou (kahr-kuh-joo) is a little python project I'm spinning up that makes this website possible. It takes my raw markdown, injects it into html templates, and even makes API calls to get all this stuff on the web.
It lives! Carcajou currently can take my markdown files and with a click of a button get it on the web.
Mostly because I wanted to build up my skills and really understand what was happening. I do recommend Pelican or Jekyll for those who want to do something similar without all the repeat work. I also wanted something that would work well with all my idiosyncrasies, and sometimes the best way to do that is to just do it yourself.
I'm inspired by a long history of naming python projects after animals. Carcajou is a French Canadian name for wolverines that many sources say has Algonquian origin. Given that my nickname on here is taken from the Genus name for wolverines, it felt really fitting to call my website helper a wolverine too.
